October–Decemeber 2024
Here are the terms of the video contest. Up to 5 videos per person. Only good faith submissions will be accepted, which we’ll determine in our sole discretion—so it has to be a video of a genuine moment, not staged or spam. We don’t have infinite money, so only the first 250 accepted videos will be eligible.
The main idea is we want to cut together a hype video to show people what it’s really like to go through the marriage pact. You’ll retain the full ownership rights of any videos you submit. By submitting, you’ll grant us a license to use the video, including your name, voice, and/or likeness if they’re in it. It will be a royalty-free, irrevocable, transferable & sublicensable, worldwide license to use the content. “Use” means reproduce, modify, repackage, publish, edit, translate, distribute, syndicate, publicly display, and make derivative works of the original video, in whole or in part, and in any format, for any reason, and through any media channel (including promoting the service or cutting together a hype reel to show to our mom). That license would be non-exclusive, though, so you can always option your story to Hollywood, too, if you want. Go get em tiger.
In order for you to grant us that license, you need to have the right to do so (like you need to be the owner of the video), so by submitting, you represent that you have the right to grant us that license, and you also have consent of each and every identifiable person in the video to use their likeness for use in the same manner as yours (like we outlined above).
Finally, we’re paying you $10 for every good faith submission (up to 5 submissions) so by submitting you agree that we can exercise the license outlined above without liability for any other fees, residuals, payments, etc.
Also, as we outlined in the original note, you’re eligible for more if you submit something great! We’ll send you $50 if your video makes us laugh out loud. And we’ll send a whole wedding cake if it’s our favorite video of all time. That’s one cake, three tiers, up to a $500 value.
